Geotechnical
investigations are among the most challenging aspects of hydropower development
in Nepal due to not only the country’s complex geology and outdated technology,
but also difficulty in accessing those remote sites. The difficulties in
reaching these locations often feel like adventure sports.
In this
instance, we crossed the flooded Solu River using a rope and pulley system—a blunt
reminder of the extreme conditions that investigation teams usually face. This
improvisation underscores the resilience, adaptation and resourcefulness needed
to overcome natural obstacles in the absence of proper infrastructure,
showcasing the grit required to work in these remote areas.
This blog is a mix of everything. Some posts are random ideas I had while walking, others are unfiltered rants, and some are just thoughts that wouldn’t leave me alone. I mostly write about travel stories, personal thoughts, Nepalese life and politics, football fandom, and stray ideas.
