Makarigad Gaun – Balanch 33 kV Transmission Line Project involves 27.2 km transmission line that is located in Apihimal Rural Municipality, Marma Rural Municipality and Shailyashikhar Municipality of Darchula district of Sudurpaschhim Province in Nepal. The proposed transmission line will evacuate power from Makari Gad Hydroelectric Project (10 MW) through a 33 kV line to Balanch Substation (at Chameliya Hydropower Project) of Nepal Electricity Authority. The project is located in the rocks of Lesser Himalayan zone with major lithology of quartzite, limestone and slates.
Jade Consult carried out the feasibility study of this project that includes the review of the selected project option, the review and updating of power system studies, the conceptual design for the 33 kV transmission facilities (overhead line and substations), the cost estimation as well as the financial and economic analysis. Hydro Vision Pvt. Ltd. is the developer of this project.
I was involved in this project between May 2018 – February 2019. I was responsible for geological study of foundation of the transmission line tower/poles, mass wasting study at the alignment, general geological mapping of the alignment, surface geological and geomorphological investigation, and geological mapping in accordance to the requirement of the project.
